Yes- The Wednesday Wars is another favorite for sure.
YES. Sylvia Keesmaat recommended Schmidt to me last year, and I’ve read most of his books since then. They are perfect bedtime reading: tough and tender and ultimately hopeful but without lying about it.
That's a perfect description. Some of his books have devastated me (Orbiting Jupiter was one of those) ... but not in a bad way, if that makes sense.
